Kathryn Austin, CNM, has lived in the Walla Walla area for most of her life. After attending nursing school at Walla Walla Community College and WSU Tri-Cities, she worked at both SMMC and WWGH. In addition, Kathryn became a Certified Doula, worked as nurse for Early Head Start at Children's Home Society and ran her own business for several years, specializing in professional Doula services, infant massage classes, childbirth education classes among other services. In 2008, Kathryn achieved a life-long goal and completed the Masters and Certificate program at the Midwifery Institute of Philadelphia, becoming a Certified Nurse Midwife.
Her passion is helping pregnant women have healthy, empowered, and enriched experiences through pregnancy, labor, birth, postpartum, and parenting. She also enjoys ensuring a successful breast-feeding relationship and teaching parents how to care for their newborns.
Kathryn and her husband have lived in our community for many years and have seven grown children and two grandchildren. She enjoys photography, knitting, gardening, landscape design, bicycling, recycling and restoring their 120-year old home.
