Signs that you may have a sleep disorder include:

  • Difficulty falling asleep

  • Snoring loudly

  • Excessive night-time sweating

  • Waking up suddenly, gasping for breath, coughing or wheezing

  • Falling asleep while driving or during physical effort

  • Experiencing aching or "crawling" sensations in your legs

  • Consistently feeling sleepy during the day, even when getting a full night's sleep

  • Worrying about your sleep

If you regularly experience any of these signs, you should talk to your physician about your sleep or call 509-525-0480 and ask for our sleep center. Your physician may want to refer you for a sleep study to evaluate the cause of your sleepiness.

What's a sleep study like?
The idea of sleeping in a strange room while someone monitors you all night can be a little scary. But a sleep study really isn't that bad. And it may help you get closer to a full, restful night of sleep in the future.

Here are the steps you'll experience when getting a sleep study at WWGH:

Step 1: Your doctor will refer you to our Sleep Center and may order a consult with a sleep physician to determine which type of study you should have.

Step 2: We schedule an appointment at your earliest convenience.

Step 3: You arrive at WWGH on your scheduled day about 7 p.m. and check in at the front desk. The sleep technologist will escort you to a private, homey room where you will be monitored overnight.

Step 4: Wake up, shower, enjoy a free breakfast with our cafeteria voucher.

Step 5: Medical Director, Kam Atwal, MD, who is certified by the American Board of Sleep Medicine, will interpret the results of your study. The results will be provided to your primary care physician, who will review the results with you and prescribe treatment if necessary.
